BOLSHOY
Daniel Bolshoy is committed to bringing classical guitar
to the attention of audiences
everywhere. He is regularly praised for his friendly and
informative spoken introductions, and progressive programming
of solo and chamber music.
Mr. Bolshoy has performed for many prestigious festivals
including the Ottawa and the
Vancouver International Chamber Music Festivals, the Halifax
Guitar Festival, the
Indian River Music Festival, the Guelph Spring Festival,
the Westben Arts Festival, the
Festival des arts Boré-Art (Montreal) and the International
Music Festival in Macao. He has toured under the auspices
of Prairie Debut, Debut Atlantic and Musique Royale, and
has performed for the Début Series in Montreal, Vancouver
and the CBC/NAC Début series in Ottawa. His U.S.
concerts include a tour for Live on Stage and numerous appearances
at music festivals and on University campuses.
Mr. Bolshoy’s recitals are frequently broadcast on
CBC Radio, and he has also appeared in two documentary films
for the Bravo! series The Classical Now.
Mr. Bolshoy regularly performs solo and chamber music recitals
in Canada’s most
prestigious venues, including the Glenn Gould Studio, the
Toronto Centre for the
Performing Arts, the National Art Centre, and Vancouver’s
Chan Centre among others.
Among recent orchestral appearances are concertos by Rodrigo,
Ponce, Kernis,
and Castelnuovo-Tedesco with orchestras across North America
including: The Mexico City Philharmonic, the Toronto Philharmonia,
the New Mexico Symphony, theVancouver Philharmonic, the
Peterborough Symphony, the Huntsville festival, the Red
Deer Symphony, the Oakville Symphony the Etobicoke Philharmonic
as well as the Manitoba and Ottawa Chamber Orchestras.
This season’s engagements include a cross-Canada
recital tour for Jeunesses Musicales, concerto appearances
with the Edmonton Symphony, the Kamloops Symphony and the
Symphonie of the Kootenays, as well as an extensive outreach
tour of the Northwest Territories.
Mr. Bolshoy teaches guitar at Concordia University in Montreal
and regularly offers
masterclasses to guitar societies and educational institutions
internationally. He frequently performs outreach and educational
concerts for young people.
